A Sticky Inheritance Now Available!

A Sticky Inheritance, the first book in my amateur sleuth cozy mystery series, releases today!

For the first week, you can grab it for 99 cents on Amazon (or you can borrow it if you’re part of Kindle Unlimited).

Here’s the description:

2016-565-ebook-emily-james-a-sticky-inheritance-6x9Sometimes the truth can be a sticky thing…

Nicole Fitzhenry-Dawes feels like she’s the only failure amid a family of high achievers. Her last serious boyfriend turned out to be married, and her career as a criminal defense attorney is in tatters. When her uncle passes away and leaves her his maple syrup farm in Michigan, she thinks it might be time for a career change—hopefully one that allows her to stay as far away from murderers and liars as possible.

For half a day at least.

Her uncle’s suicide quickly begins to look like it wasn’t a suicide after all, but the chief of police is reluctant to investigate and soil the reputation of his serene little tourist town. Murder’s bad for business. Nicole has no choice but to search for the killer on her own, with a little help from the handsome county medical examiner—who’s exactly her type and all wrong for her.

And as she closes in, she not only risks becoming the murderer’s next victim, but also starts to wonder if knowing the truth is ever worse than believing the lie…

Welcome to My Online Home

Welcome to my website. Let me give you a quick tour.

Right now, you’re at my blog. I have plenty of things I’m excited to share with you in the future. Because my current mystery series is set on a maple syrup farm, I’ll be posting fun facts about maple syrup. I also want you to get to know me a little more though, so I’ll also be posting things I think you might be interested in about me, like my “painting of the week” where you can see what I’ve been working on. (I’m a new artist. Be gentle.) And, of course, when I have book news, it’ll appear here too.

If you’re looking for information about who I am and what types of books I write, the best place to look is my About Emily page. I’ve included some of the expected biographical info, but I’ve also created a list of frequently asked questions. I’ll be adding to that list over time as more questions filter in.

If you want to know where to buy my books, when the next book in the series is scheduled for release, or how far along I am on the newest project, then you want my Books page. You can get my novella Sapped, a Maple Syrup Mysteries prequel, for free by signing up for my Mystery Lover’s Newsletter. (The newsletter is only for new releases and special bonuses. I won’t be sending you an email unless I have news I think you’ll want to hear.)

And if you simply want to write me an email, you can use my Contact page. I really like to use a contact form because the emails I receive that way are less likely to be eaten by the dreaded spam folder. I’m not terribly good at remembering to check my spam folder. It’s like the black hole of the internet. Things go in. They never come out…

So there you have it–my website in a nutshell. If you stumbled upon it by accident, I hope you’ll stay awhile. If you found it because you’re already a reader of my books, thank you! If you’re interested in connecting with me more, I also have a Facebook page.
